Our first game in over a year!
Our
football team has not
gotten to play against competition aside from ourselves since Nov. 30 of 2019 against Ferris State in the NCAA Division II playoffs. Ever
since then
we have been working toward another playoff run. On April 17th we have been given the opportunity to play
against Augustana on our field in a scrimmage formatted game. This should be some good competition for us to get our
feet wet again. In
their last season,
2019, they
had a record
of 6-4 and made a playoff
appearance. That
year they
were seeded 10th and we were seeded third in the nation. Even though we had a
better record
and was seeded higher, a lot can change in over a year. For example, we have
lost five all conference players and two All-American players. I am sure that they have also
lost some talented players with the whole Covid-19 situation too. We have yet
to start scouting them,
so I am unsure of the talent that they
have. The week of the game is going to be when we start scouting our opponent
to see what type of schemes that will
work best against them.
One thing I do know as
of right now is that
we have a talented team
and should
win this game. Although winning will not give us a chance at the playoffs, it will still feel good to play against someone besides our own
team. I
hope that there is a
huge turnout of people
in the
crowd that
have missed watching us play just as much as we've missed playing.
In my next blog I will be giving the details of the scrimmage! Come back and find out what we will be doing.
