Week One vs. Pittsburg State University

Hello! Welcome back to "A look at UCM football". Today we will be talking about how the week one game went against opponent Pittsburg State.

The outcome wasn't exactly what we had hoped for. The final score to the game was 16-35 with Pittsburg State coming out with the win. There is a number of reasons that we didn't come out with the dub and I will start by saying our offense just wasn't as efficient as we needed it to be. We were 16% on third downs and only got in the end zone one time through out the night. Only completing 16% of our third downs caused the defense to have to be on the field a lot more. We don't have a lot of depth right now at a corner position and having to be on the field a lot caused them to be tired.

This resulted in them having four passing touchdowns on us. As a team we have 15 mules that played in the first college football game at Central Missouri. This means that we have a lot of players that were very unexperienced. It could have played a part in the outcome of the game. The good thing is that we have many talented players and a very talented coaching staff. I am not to worried about losing game one but I think that we learned a lot after the game and being able to break down the film. Our end goal isn't winning game one and beating Pitt State, we are looking to get better each week and make the play offs and make history.

Next week we get to travel to Kansas to take on another solid opponent, Washburn. They are 1-0 on the season beating Lincoln University. Come back next week as I keep you updated after our game two which hopefully will result in a win.
